Every year, the Region comes together to recognize individuals and/or groups, regardless of type of incident, event, time of event or outcome, who  have made beneficial contributions to the Region IV EMS System.  We recognize those individuals who are striving daily to improve the delivery of pre-hospital care.

The Metropolitan Boston EMS Council (Region IV) is accepting nominations for our Nineteenth Annual Awards Ceremony.

The Awards will be presented on Thursday, November 7, 2019 to be held at the American Legion Post 440, 295 California Street, Newton, MA

All EMS Providers involved in the delivery of pre-hospital care within Region IV are eligible for nomination.  We are encouraging all providers and affiliates to nominate individuals and/or groups, regardless of type of incident, event, time of event or outcome, who you feel have made beneficial contributions to the Region IV EMS System.  We are asking you to help us to recognize those individuals who are striving daily to improve the delivery of pre-hospital care.

Please complete the nomination application attached with as much detail as possible (leaving out specific patient identifiers from EMS call details if you are referencing them) and email it to Betty Ericksen at info@mbemsc.org by Friday, September 27, 2019It is imperative that you give as much information/detail as possible in the narrative for the nominee(s). This is extremely crucial in helping the Selection Committee determine the best recipient for each award.

Award categories are as follows:

  • EMS First Responder Award is presented to an individual acting in the capacity of an EMS First Responder who performs meritorious service above and beyond the expectations of the profession. (i.e. police, fire, lifeguard).

  • BLS Provider Award is presented to an individual functioning in the capacity of an EMT-Basic who performs meritorious service above and beyond the expectations of the profession.

  • ALS Provider Award is presented to an individual functioning in the capacity of an EMT-Advanced or Paramedic who performs meritorious service above and beyond the expectations of the profession.

  • EMS Educator Award is presented to an EMS Instructor who is dedicated to quality instruction and promoting the best in pre-hospital care or has made an outstanding contribution to EMS education within Region IV.

  • EMS Leader Award is presented to an individual EMS administrator who has become a leader in EMS and serves as a role model for other EMS administrators throughout the region.

  • EMS Nurse Award is presented to a nurse who has contributed in a significant way to the development of EMS skills, efforts and education within the region.

  • EMS Physician Award is presented to a physician who exemplifies leadership and dedication to EMS systems and, through his or her efforts, has significantly promoted EMS within the region.

  • Telecommunicator Award is presented to any Telecommunicator who performs meritorious service above and beyond the expectations of the profession.

  • Outstanding Team Response Award is presented to any team of responders who demonstrate a professional and highly team-oriented approach to patient care during an extremely severe medical emergency.

  • Innovation Award is presented to an individual or group who has shown innovative thinking to address a problem that affects the EMS community.
